Veronica Pedrosa

Named ‘Best News Anchor’ at the Asian Television Awards, Veronica Pedrosa brings 19 years of international news experience to Al Jazeera English.  She joined the channel from CNN International, based in Hong Kong. Prior to that, she worked with BBC World Television and BBC World Service Radio in London, and she was a news anchor for CNN International at their headquarters in Atlanta.  She started her career with ABS-CBN News in Manila.

Since the launch of Al Jazeera English, Veronica has exclusively interviewed Philippine President Gloria Arroyo and former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, among others.  She presented Al Jazeera’s special coverage of the Nargis Cyclone in Myanmar, the Beijing Olympics and the historic U.S. presidential elections.  She gained the first exclusive news team access to Myanmar’s new capital and has extensively covered the conflict between the Philippine military and Muslim insurgents in the Southern Philippines.
